Privacy policy

What we collect when you use Navy, why we collect it and the choices you have.

Last updated

This policy explains how Navy handles personal information when you visit our website, create an account or use the service. We collect as little as we need to run Navy well, and we never sell your data.

Information we collect

Account information. Your name, email address, company name and password, or the identity details sent by your SSO provider.

Contact methods. Phone numbers and email addresses you add so Navy can send you alerts.

Monitoring data. The URLs, endpoints and settings of your monitors, and the results of every check: status codes, response times and error messages.

Status page subscribers. Email addresses of people who subscribe to your status pages. You control this list and can export or delete it at any time.

Usage data. Basic information about how the dashboard is used, such as pages visited and features turned on, collected without third-party advertising trackers.

How we use information

  • To run checks, confirm outages and send the alerts you configure.
  • To publish your status pages and send updates to their subscribers.
  • To provide support and answer your questions.
  • To keep Navy secure, prevent abuse and investigate incidents.
  • To send product updates, which you can turn off in your profile.

Where data is stored

Account data and check results are stored in the European Union by default. Business plans can choose the United States instead. Checks run from 18 regions, but results are always sent back to your chosen storage region.

Sharing

We share information only with service providers that help us run Navy, such as our cloud host, SMS and voice providers and our email provider. Each one is bound by a data processing agreement. We may also disclose information when the law requires it.

Retention

Check results are kept for the period included in your plan. Incidents and postmortems are kept until you delete them. When you close your account, we delete your data within 30 days, except where we must keep it for legal or billing reasons.

Your rights

You can access, correct, export or delete your personal information from your account settings at any time. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, write to [email protected].

Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes, we will tell account owners by email at least 30 days before they take effect. The date at the top of this page shows when the policy was last updated.
