CVE-2013-2566

5.9 · MEDIUM
Published Mar 15, 2013 oracle CWE-326

Overview

CVE-2013-2566 is a medium-severity vulnerability affecting oracle communications_application_session_controller. It was published on March 15, 2013 and has a CVSS 3.1 base score of 5.9 (MEDIUM).

This vulnerability has a CVSS 3.1 base score of 5.9, rated MEDIUM. It can be exploited remotely over the network. No authentication or special privileges are required for exploitation.

Technical Description

The RC4 algorithm, as used in the TLS protocol and SSL protocol, has many single-byte biases, which makes it easier for remote attackers to conduct plaintext-recovery attacks via statistical analysis of ciphertext in a large number of sessions that use the same plaintext.

Remediation

Check the references section for vendor advisories and patches from oracle. Update communications_application_session_controller to the latest patched version. If immediate patching is not possible, review the CVSS vector to understand the attack surface and apply compensating controls such as network segmentation or access restrictions.
