CVE-2015-2808

3.7 · LOW
Published Apr 1, 2015 oracle CWE-327

Overview

CVE-2015-2808 is a low-severity vulnerability affecting oracle communications_application_session_controller. It was published on April 1, 2015 and has a CVSS 3.1 base score of 3.7 (LOW).

This vulnerability has a CVSS 3.1 base score of 3.7, rated LOW. It can be exploited remotely over the network. No authentication or special privileges are required for exploitation.

Technical Description

The RC4 algorithm, as used in the TLS protocol and SSL protocol, does not properly combine state data with key data during the initialization phase, which makes it easier for remote attackers to conduct plaintext-recovery attacks against the initial bytes of a stream by sniffing network traffic that occasionally relies on keys affected by the Invariance Weakness, and then using a brute-force approach involving LSB values, aka the "Bar Mitzvah" issue.

Remediation

Check the references section for vendor advisories and patches from oracle. Update communications_application_session_controller to the latest patched version. If immediate patching is not possible, review the CVSS vector to understand the attack surface and apply compensating controls such as network segmentation or access restrictions.

Affected Products

Vendor Product Versions Status
oracle communications_application_session_controller 3.0.0 Affected
oracle communications_policy_management >= 0, < 9.9.2 Affected
oracle integrated_lights_out_manager_firmware 3.0.0 Affected
