Overview

CVE-2025-38462 is a medium-severity vulnerability affecting linux linux_kernel. It was published on July 25, 2025 and has a CVSS 3.1 base score of 4.7 (MEDIUM).

This vulnerability has a CVSS 3.1 base score of 4.7, rated MEDIUM. It requires local or adjacent network access to exploit. Some level of privileges is required for exploitation.

Technical Description

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

vsock: Fix transport_{g2h,h2g} TOCTOU

vsock_find_cid() and vsock_dev_do_ioctl() may race with module unload.

transport_{g2h,h2g} may become NULL after the NULL check.

Introduce vsock_transport_local_cid() to protect from a potential

null-ptr-deref.
