Published Oct 19, 2026CWE-22EPSS 0.37%

Overview

CVE-2026-111053 is a known-severity vulnerability. It was published on October 19, 2026.

Technical description

FOSSBilling is an open source billing and client-management platform. From 0.1.0 until 0.8.7, the unauthenticated api/guest/system/template_exists endpoint permits path traversal because templateExists uses Path::join on the attacker-controlled file parameter without rejecting .. sequences or verifying that the resolved path remains inside the active theme directory. The trigger is an unauthenticated request to guest/system/template_exists containing traversal sequences in the file parameter. An attacker can submit traversal sequences in the file parameter and observe the returned boolean to determine whether arbitrary files or directories exist on the server. The oracle does not disclose file contents. This issue is fixed in version 0.8.7.

Remediation

Check the references section for vendor advisories, patches, and mitigation guidance. If immediate patching is not possible, review the CVSS vector to understand the attack surface and apply compensating controls such as network segmentation or access restrictions.

How can CyberStrike help with CVE-2026-111053?

CyberStrike is an open-source, AI-augmented pentesting engine. Rather than flag a version number, it tests whether an issue like CVE-2026-111053 is actually reachable in your own applications and APIs, then verifies each finding before reporting it. That tells you if the weakness is a real, exploitable risk in your environment or a false positive you can safely deprioritize.
