Technical description

TastyIgniter through 4.4.5 contain a PHP object injection vulnerability that allows authenticated administrators to achieve arbitrary code execution by submitting a serialized PHP object as a settings value, which is stored unsanitized and later unserialized by getValueAttribute() when the setting is read. Attackers can submit a serialized gadget chain, such as one generated via phpggc, through the admin settings form (for example the maintenance_message setting loaded by CheckMaintenance.php) to achieve arbitrary operating-system command execution as the PHP application process user, with the impact persisting until the value is overwritten.

Remediation

Check the references section for vendor advisories, patches, and mitigation guidance. If immediate patching is not possible, review the CVSS vector to understand the attack surface and apply compensating controls such as network segmentation or access restrictions.

How can CyberStrike help with CVE-2026-29001?

CyberStrike is an open-source, AI-augmented pentesting engine. Rather than flag a version number, it tests whether an issue like CVE-2026-29001 is actually reachable in your own applications and APIs, then verifies each finding before reporting it. That tells you if the weakness is a real, exploitable risk in your environment or a false positive you can safely deprioritize.
